Service brake test: To test my service brakes, I will release both brakes, put the truck in gear pull forward at 5 miles an hour and apply my foot to the service brake to make sure my vehicle does not pull to the left or right that would indicate that I had a braking problem. (set brakes and put chocks out if on uneven ground) Otherwise, leave valves pushed in.

Air Brake test: (LAB’s)

(Confirm both air valves pushed in) Build your air pressure back up to 120-140 psi and the governor cuts out.

Turn vehicle OFF, then turn key back to accessory.

  1. Leaks:   I will apply firm steady pressure to the brake pedal for 1 minute in that minute I will not loose more that 4 psi. Will you time me please? Hold brake pedal until she tells you to release and state that you didn’t lose more than 4 psi in a minute.
  2. Alarms:   I will fan my brakes down to about 55 psi my lights and buzzer will come on. Do it. My light and buzzer came on about 55 psi.
  3. Buttons:   I will continue to fan my brakes and between 20-40psi my brake valves will pop out. Pump brakes (Watch valves, keep pumping until both valves pop out.) My valves popped out between 20-40 psi.

(Make sure Everything happened perfectly, if anything  didn’t ask examiner to start over and Start truck redo LAB’s)

  • Turn ignition off, let examiner know that completes your brake test.
