Front of Truck
Lights Check the clearance lights, headlights, turn signals, four ways, and marker lights to make sure they are clean, properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose and are the proper color, clear and amber.
Leaks looks under the front of the tractor to make sure there are no fluid leaks
Leaning Look to see if the truck is leaning to the left or right which would indicate that I have a tire or suspension problem.
Passenger Side
P1 -Hoses: check the overall condition of all hoses to make sure they have no abrasions bulges and have no cuts and I don’t see or hear any leaks.
P2 – Coolant Reservoir: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, cap is present and tight, check the coolant reservoir to make sure the coolant level is at the proper operating level and I don’t see any leaks from the reservoir or hoses.
P3 – Alternator: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, all electrical connectors are secure not cut or frayed and it is belt driven, the belt has no more than ¾ inch play and it is not cut or frayed.
P4 – Water pump: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, the water pump is belt driven, the belt has no more than ¾ inch play and not cut or frayed. Water pump is not leaking.
Driver Side
D1 – Hoses: check the overall condition of all hoses to make sure they have no abrasions bulges and have no cuts and I don’t see or hear any leaks.
D2 – Power steering reservoir: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, cap is present and tight. And the fluid is at the proper operating level. I don’t see any leaks
D2a – Power Steering Hoses: properly mounted and secured, not cracked damaged or loose, no abrasions bulges or cuts. I don’t see any leaks,
D3 – Oil level: pull dipstick out, wipe it off, reinsert it, pull it back out and make sure the oil is at the proper operating level.
D4 – Steering Shaft: properly mounted and secured, not cracked damaged or loose, bolt is present and tight and the U-joint is properly greased.
D5 – Steering gear box: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose. All bolts present and tight and I don’t see any leaks.
D6 – Steering linkage: (pitman arm, draglink, and steering knuckle, tie rod, and tie rod end) all my steering linkage is properly mounted and secured, not cracked damaged or loose. Castle nuts are present and tight, locked in place by cotter pins.
D7 – Spring hanger mounts: front and rear properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose.
D8 – Leaf springs: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, none are shifted, or missing.
D9 – U-bolts: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose and nuts underneath are present and tight.
D10 – Shocks: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose and I don’t see any leaks.
D11 – Air Compressor: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose. Air compressor is gear driven and I don’t hear any leaks.
D12 – Power steering pump: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, power steering pump is gear driven and I don’t see any leaks.
D13 – Brake hose: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, properly coupled and have no abrasions, bulges, or cuts. I don’t hear any leaks
D14 – Brake Chamber: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, not leaking and the clamp is secure around the brake chamber. (single brake chamber)
D15 – Slack adjuster and push rod: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, no more than 1 inch of travel when brakes released.
D16 – Drums and D17 – shoes: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, and pads are not worn dangerously thin, less than1/4 inch. Free of oil, dirt, debris, and grease.
D18 – Tires: properly mounted and secure not cracked damaged or loose. The tread is wearing nice and evenly, it has at least 4/32 of tread depth. There are no Abrasions bulges or cuts.
D19 – Valve stem: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, cap is present, I hear no leaks and I would check with a pressure gauge.
D20 – Rims: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose and no illegal welds.
D21 – Lug nuts: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, all are present and no signs of rust trails or shiny threads that would indicate a loose lug nut.
D22 – Hub oil seal: properly mounted and secure, not cracked damaged or loose, check for proper fluid level and is not leaking.
